The Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation was formed in 2014 to demonstrate our deep commitment to the communities we serve. Through targeted investments in organizations focused on children's education and wellbeing, the Foundation works to create economic opportunity for all in the communities Umpqua Bank serves. Our company's associate-led Community Giving team reviews and approves all grants.

In complement to Foundation gifts, our Community Giving Program provides support to nonprofits through event sponsorships, and our local stores are empowered to make contributions on a smaller scale as well.

In 2014 we awarded $3.4 million to nonprofit organizations. Whether the contribution is made directly by a store or through the Community Giving Program, we have the same focus in all of our giving:
We recognize the fundamental connection between education and economic prosperity. We work to strengthen the communities we serve by investing in organizations and initiatives that create access to education and the economic opportunity that makes possible.

Youth development and education

We look for programs that create opportunities for early childhood and K-12 youth that fulfill their educational experience, promote their well-being and inspire them to reach their full potential.

  • Early childhood learning
  • Childhood hunger
  • Literacy and math achievement benchmarks
  • Parent engagement and support
  • Positive youth development
  • Arts Access for youth

Economic Opportunity

Our contributions are made to organizations that promote stability in our neighborhoods, through assistance to low-to-moderate income individuals and families.

  • Financial education
  • Affordable housing
  • College, tech and career readiness
  • Asset building for individuals and families
