2023 Warm Hearts Winter Drive: That’s a Wrap!
Our 2023 Warm Hearts Winter Drive is in the books. Thanks to the generosity of our customers, sponsors and communities, and the hard work of our associates, many of our neighbors in need are staying warmer, and safer, this winter.
Online and in-branch contributions added up to an amazing $365,246!
These dollars, plus hundreds of warm winter supplies that were donated at our branches, are directly benefiting families and individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the communities we serve.
Addressing a greater-than-ever need
On any given night in the US, more than one third of those experiencing homelessness are families. This year’s Warm Hearts Winter Drive partnered with 105 local shelters to help those struggling get through the difficult winter months. Each dollar helped to provide a nutritious meal, safe place to sleep, a warm blanket, or even cozy socks.
The Warm Hearts Winter Drive began in 2015 at Columbia Bank. Thanks to the recent merging of Columbia Bank and Umpqua Bank, the 2023 drive had the benefit of a greater size and footprint, enabling us to bring the total raised over the years to more than $2.36 million.
Associate driven efforts ramp up donations
In addition to money donated by customers and sponsors, associate contests also helped bring in additional contributions. An Ugly Sweater Contest had teams donating $5 for the privilege of donning their best ugly sweater for a social media photo album. The pic with the most “likes” won money toward the shelter of their choice.
Elf on the Shelf and Desk ’oration contests, plus a coloring contest and matching gift competition, also helped associates get into the holiday spirit and “win” even more money for their local shelters.
